Adjoining the restaurant is the Wild Dog Cellar Door that is open daily for tastings and sales of our Estate grown and made award winning wines. Light snacks including cheese platters are available and various local produce is for sale.

Featuring a unique “W shaped bar” designed by owner Gary Surman, that houses a state of the art argon wine tasting unit, the Wild Dog Cellar Door acts as a foyer to the restaurant and is a spectacular venue unto itself. With an open fireplace for winter ambience and an outdoor servery window to the spacious deck for those hot summer days.

For the best wine tasting come to cellar door, we’re always checking museum stock and opening the best back vintage and limited release wines that aren’t available anywhere else. It’s also a great way to experience our single vineyard wines, side by side. We’ve also got all the local knowledge on what to do in the region. There’s also a great intro offer if you join our Cellar Club in addition to the quarterly mixed dozen of Montalto & Pennon Hill wines.

Set in the historical winery building (circa 1859), our Cellar Door encapsulates the synergy between wine, food, knowledge and sensory experience.

The Tasting Bar allows visitors to experience our fantastic range of wines with the support and skill of our knowledgeable and passionate young team. Yering Station produces fifteen styles of wine under six distinctive wine labels.

In alignment with the International Wine Judging System, wines are considered in terms of colour, nose and palate. The educational nature of our tastings encourages visitors to learn the language of wine in a relaxed environment creating a memorable experience for the many who visit our Cellar Door. Private Educational tasting are also available for groups larger than ten. Bookings are essential.

Oakdene’s Cellar Door is open every day for wine tastings, tours and sales.

Our cellar door, the ‘Upside-Down House’, offers visitors to the Bellarine Peninsula a unique tasting room to experience. Designed by owner Elizabeth Hooley, the cellar door appears to be an A frame timber house that has been blown over in the wind, with the roof line on the ground and timber stumps exposed. Recycled and re-claimed timbers feature extensively throughout the interior, coupled with contemporary design and facilities to complete a spectacular and very functional tasting room capable of catering for both small and larger groups, located a short walk from Oakdene Restaurant.

Our cellar door is manned by a small team of Bellarine Peninsula locals who, over the years, have developed an intimate understanding of our region and a deep knowledge of our wines. The team are always keen to talk you through our range of award winning wines, show you around the property or help you decide which wines to take home with you.

Wine tastings attract a $5.00 tasting fee and are refundable on purchase of wine.

Group tasting bookings are by appointment only.

Valhalla Wines handcrafts its wines using natural vineyard practices, traditional winemaking techniques and careful cellaring in its straw bale winery. Valhalla has been established with environmental sustainability as a core value of its business. Varieties such as Viognier, Marsanne, Grenache, Shiraz and Durif are the heroes here, with the winemaker’s attention to detail creating wines of character…..wines with soul. The Winery and can be found just 10 minutes from Rutherglen. The new lambs are roaming in the Vineyard with the geese and the pruning is almost finished.

Our cellar door overlooks the vineyard and olive grove and is just an hour from Melbourne’s CBD and 40 minutes from Melbourne airport. It is also located amongst some other fantastic Heathcote wine producers – so make a day of it!

On the weekends, public holidays and by appointment, McIvor Estate’s cellar doors are flung open and the outdoor wood-fired oven gets a workout with home-style pizzas. On special occasions, the oven is worked to maximum effect, with wet dishes and wood-fire baked bread. To work off all that grazing before heading back to the City, the bocce court should to the trick.

Taste the world in a glass and embark on a journey through our range of rare and mainstream varietals hailing from Italy, Spain, France and Russia. Tantalise your taste buds with crisp whites and rich earthy reds.

Our expansive terrace area is the perfect place to relax, enjoy our wines and treat yourself to seasonal local produce from the kitchen or the finest coffee. In the winter, take advantage of our cosy and relaxed atmosphere and enjoy a glass of your favourite red by the fireplace.
